Importing a feed into Microsoft Merchant Center

Store setup, domain verification, feed upload or scheduled fetch, and the differences from Google.

Before you start

  • A Microsoft Advertising account.
  • Ownership of your shop domain verified in Microsoft Merchant Center; Microsoft offers verification through Bing Webmaster Tools or a tag on your site.
  • A feed file or a feed URL. Microsoft accepts tab-delimited text (TSV), CSV and XML files that use Google's attribute names, with the differences listed below.

Steps

  1. In Microsoft Advertising open Tools, then Microsoft Merchant Center, and create a store: store name, destination URL and the domain verification.
  2. In the store open Feeds and create a feed: name, country and language, and how the data arrives, a file upload or a scheduled download from a URL (http, https or ftp).
  3. Upload the file or save the URL. Microsoft imports the feed and lists errors and warnings in the feed summary.
  4. Create a Shopping campaign in Microsoft Advertising and link it to the store. The Google Ads import can bring over the campaign structure; the product data itself comes from Microsoft Merchant Center.

Differences from the Google feed

  • Availability values are "In Stock", "Out of Stock" and "Preorder".
  • One feed covers one market and one currency.
  • Microsoft Merchant Center supports fewer countries than Google Shopping; check the store country list before creating the feed.
  • Title length and identifier rules are similar; GTIN, brand and MPN help matching here too.

Crossfeed

The Crossfeed tool in Komplet converts your feed snapshot into a tab-delimited file with Microsoft's attribute names, applies the Komplet custom labels and approved titles, and lists what it had to skip and why. A hosted URL for scheduled fetches is planned; today you download the file and upload it in Microsoft Merchant Center.
